Maps in the comics have confirmed this, and so have creators, although Gotham was modeled of NYC at night, and metropolis in the day(or uptown for metro and downtown for Gotham, although this is the 1960-80 explanation, and not used anymore) they are only modeled off these areas visually currently, and are located where I said they are currently! Metropolis varies but usually it's placed in Delaware [16] Metropolis and Gotham City are located on either side of the Delaware Bay
